It’s time to let go of the inner critic and live more compassionately

Hi I’m Nausheen, licensed clinical psychologist and I work with women who are looking for a place to do the deep work of truly understanding what is keeping them stuck with themselves and their relationships.

A big piece of doing this work is a willingness to get uncomfortable by looking at the parts of us that we often want to avoid because it brings up feelings of shame, unworthiness, and guilt. While validation and normalization is an important part of therapy, my clients that see the BEST results are one who are looking for more than that. They’re looking for someone who will empathize with them AND help them see how they may be contributing to the problems in their relationships. It is through this kind of self-exploration that true liberation lies. I believe that true self-compassion involves holding ourselves accountable from a place of acceptance.

Am I the right therapist for you?

You’ve gone through life so far just dealing with your inner critic and you seem to be ok…but in those moments of silence in between the busyness of the daily grind, you can’t seem to get rid of those thoughts you keep trying to push to the back of your mind. You’re ready for a different approach to the normal telling yourself to just get over things. Or maybe you’ve just gone through a crisis in your life or relationship that’s got you questioning everything. I’m here to help you pick up the pieces and find a way to move forward.

I’m passionate about this work because I’ve gone through my own journey and had to learn things along the way. I understand that painful experiences in childhood can cause people to hate themselves and feel like they want to escape their own mind. It’s exhausting and sometimes causes even more suffering than the painful event itself.

I won’t try to sell you on a solution to your problems because I believe the idea that someone else has the answer to your problems – is what keeps people stuck. Instead, I will do is help you to embrace all parts of yourself…even the ones you think are holding you back.

What it’s like to work with me?

Clients describe me as genuine, down to earth, and straightforward. Therapy with me doesn’t just involve learning coping skills. While we will learn ways to handle the distress that you’re in right now, I don’t think you need to be in therapy to learn those skills. You can read a self-help book or listen to a podcast for that. I’m passionate about getting to the root cause of clients’ suffering.

When we understand the WHY behind our dysfunction we develop the clarity necessary to show up for ourselves and our partners from a place of compassion. I place a heavy emphasis on what is going on between you and me in session because I often find that it parallels what is happening outside of therapy. One of my core values as a therapist is to be honest with you. Even what I’m saying may feel painful to hear. I want you to know that the truths we uncover will lead to the freedom and openness you are so desperately wanting…that is my promise to you.
